Colin was born on 12th November 1928 in Herne Bay. In 1937 the family moved to London but with the outbreak of war they moved again to Kempston. Colin went to Bedford Modern School and was active in the Officer Training Corps. In 1945 he joined the Military Police and served in the Middle East. He went back to civilian life in Kempston and Cambridge. When Jean Woollard stopped and asked him to help mend the brakes on her bike they started dating. Colin was ill for a year with TB and proposed to Jean from his hospital bed. They were married in June 1954. They lived for a while in Liverpool, but after losing their first child they moved south and bought a house in Swanley, Kent in 1958, where Lance and Glen were born. In 1962 the family moved to East Grinstead where Tracey was born. 19 Harvest Hill, which Colin extended himself, was the family home for over twenty years. In 1984 he took early retirement from the Civil Service and Colin and Jean moved to Moraira in Spain where they lived for 24 years. They moved back to East Preston in 2008 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary there in 2014. Colin died in Worthing Hospital on 11th November 2017, the day before his 89th birthday.
